Spring Break Skin Considerations

Can you believe spring is just around the corner? Along with spring comes a much-needed time to take a break from the daily grind and get away. Where is your spring break taking you this year? Will you be found with your toes in the sand, or in ski boots riding the slopes? No matter where you go, you’ll most likely be outside more than usual since you won’t be in your office. While outdoors, you need to consider how to take care of your skin so you prevent damaging it.

If you’re going to be in snow during spring break, here are some things to remember.

  • Wear sunscreen. Many people feel like because they’re mostly covered up head to toe, no sunscreen is necessary. However, portions of your face are exposed to the sun’s harmful rays and can become terribly burnt, not only from the sun, but also from the wind. Make sure you’re applying sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30. Sunburn is actually a big issue for skiers due to the UV rays reflecting off the snow. Don’t forget your lips too! Use chapstick that has SPF in it to protect your smoochers!
  • You’ll want to use a heavy moisturizer for your face and lips because it’s common to end up with dry, red and painful skin at the end of your day. Dry and red skin can peel and be painful, and cause permanent damage as well. Moisturize your lips at the end of the day as well!
